Aulla is the main commercial town in the area located at the A15 exit of the Parma-La Spezia motorway.
Aulla is 37,4 kilometers far from Massa-Carrara, that is the Chief Town of the homonymous province to whom the municipality belongs. Very little is left of the old town; the Brunella Fortress is, however, well worth a visit. It is a manor house of great dimension, which is now home to the Natural History Museum of Lunigiana.
